Time Lapse With A Canon Sd780 Is

Secrets of Omani homes

After admiring the roundabouts, you can imagine the frenzy gilded interiors.

I warn you, you will enjoy ...

From an external view the home are often cubes, blanched.

It degrades when the owner has money. Like the telephone or car, the house can be a sign of wealth.
plans become convoluted, the facade is adorned with color (palette varied enough and bold), or worse ... marble.

Omani women are veiled, I have already spoken, to cover their hair and their shapes (long and dyed with henna) the eyes of men, so as not to cause them to temptations. When a family receives Omani home, the men go into their living room, women and young children in another room.

Sometimes the door is common, but often there are two doors. The largest and most prestigious course is reserved for men ...

It's the same style of furniture and ornaments. In humans, gilding and luxury. In women, lack of comfort and hardiness (why, dirty children all, and for the time they spend in the kitchen, do not bother to load it!)

So, between these two pictures, which has followed?? So women, comfort is less luxurious. But the welcome is almost always great. How open-minded to these women to open their homes to these strangers who come from another planet! The meal is invariably the same: chicken-rice byriani sauce, served with a salad tomato, cucumber, eat sitting down with my fingers, off race. On numerous occasions we were invited at the last minute or so, and I admire these women which, on "order" leu husband cooked their meal with their pride and sense of hospitality, ancient tradition in these Gulf countries. Some details attracted my attention:

The beautiful rugs with the portrait of Sultan Qaboos, just below the air conditioning (hazardous in case of failure, it drips, and the carpet to absorb risk!)

The photo montage of the whole family, grandparents in the center, surrounded by their children, spouses, and grandchildren, on background "Hawaii", classy!

Brown plastic enamel, together with the many bouquets of artificial flowers ...

moldings, arches, tiles, mosaics and ironwork ... partitions to the Japanese, overlooking a marble staircase and wrought iron black and gold:

The unbeatable big TV, plugged 24/24, on cartoons, commercials with propaganda: A pretty carved door ... yum! In studio version, more modest, but you can see carpet, fan, air conditioning and television ...
And the rooms? Not seen. Just a hint, photo taken at the supermarket furniture:

Gulp!

How Does Regen Hair Vitaliser Work

Art of the roundabout, or the symphony of the ugly road

If there's one thing I would criticize is the lack of taste of Omanis. As a French, coming directly from Paris, the capital of luxury and refinement, I opened wide eyes on this curious mode of grotesque sculptures at the center of the (very) many roundabouts. And I could not keep these photos taken for me to cut away at our getaway weekend.

Here they are exclusive:

This one is one of my favorites: Nizwa, the ancient capital, rich in history, is now a tourist town , one of the most important center of date production, but ... no more! Wonderful incense burners terra cotta: the one just above the right is lit from within to symbolize the glowing coal, which melts the resin incense. We can not stop the sophistication! Here we hallucinating? No, it is no tea for Alice in Wonderland: latter, near the Omani border-Emiro (?), is a bottle of rose water ... so cute! And since I went on a roll, continue on film sets that adorn the roadsides: at the entrance of the old city of Muscat, Muttrah or port, fortifications refurbished, like new:
Note the open safe on antique jewelry, gold and silver, top right: opulence, just outside the city:
The grand finale, the icing on the cake, the highlight of the show: And if, in fact, the taste was that a subjective impression?

Make Somone Fall Asleep

of Oman? Truth? Mid January, Muscat festival, a dip in the Tradition

Short Introduction, history of making me a little forgiving. 6 weeks of absence, it does not apologize. Just bad excuses ... Some children fit, holidays to enjoy each other, two moves to get ... a bit of nostalgia by revisiting our photos, reminiscing with those who came to us, giving instructions and advice to our successors, seeing the fall so quickly descend on Paris ... A computer that refuses to stay connected more than 40 minutes, in good times. But to me re-post here with a long (and tedious)

Then we go back with joy in this adventure Omani, as the memories are still alive ...
If you live in Muscat, or if you have a choice in your travel date, do not miss the "Muscat'festival. In winter usually mid January to mid-February , you'll get a glimpse of the traditions, customs and ancestral know-how, all concentrated in a limited area. The challenge is to park, leave or arrive at the festival at a decent hour. For my part, I deserted the pool (too cold) to go to the carnival, dragging the children, promising them fried (the worst of my life not cooked in oil from before Muhammad ... a delight! ).
Doors open at 16 am at Qurum Park, the only large green area of Muscat. Get out your wallet, the entrance fee (40 Euro cents for adults, half for children over 6 years ... again, it's ruined!) I have taken the line of women, but now there are not many people! The crowd arrives at night. Omanis love this festival, go there as a family, and come from very far. (Some families do come to Muscat once in the year, this time for the festival)
I add still another two places are home to the festivities in connection with the festival: on the one hand amusement park located on the road from Seeb (Airport) in Barka. Impossible to miss a huge traffic jam and the immense indicate that there is parking. We have not had the courage to face the crowd ... The Omani families rush into this ephemeral local Disneyland!
Another site hosts horse racing, sports demonstrations (we saw a youth competition driving 4x4 driving several hundred meters on both left wheels: grotesque!) And sometimes racing camel, we missed connections ... looking for reliable information is one of the great challenges of the festival! You can find this site on the waterfront at the height of the airport. Back to

Muscat. Between 16 and 18 hours, the Omanis that act as players arrive slowly, gradually open pit, pancakes Omani spread by hand begin to cook on the plates, the Chinese jugglers put on their second skin motley, divers Canadian recite a final prayer, the dancers Omani retouch their makeup outrageous, photographers set their advanced machines, and the Omani families begin to tell a little tour tonight at the festival would be a good idea. Small French that we are attending this awakening of the party, seeing the approaching bedtime ... Tomorrow, the school resumed at 7:45. The
sun sets around 18 hours. And then the show begins.
An Omani village is detached from the party. All artisans are at work, traditional songs linked together, the men make Halwa, a kind of soft paste, very sweet, which accompanies the coffee very light. (The Halwa is made of cream of goat milk, sesame paste, sugar (perhaps honey date = juice seeping under 50kg bags of dates!), Cardamom, and sometimes rose water and saffron )
Each region has its own recipe, which men pass, since women are not allowed to manufacture it.
The Omani village is the only place in the country where you can shoot old bearded and masked and Bedouin children in festive attire without their permission.
is a feast for the eyes. And the festival is an unexpected means to mix with local, for tourists and expatriates who are not lucky enough to see them live. It is even a way to take a crash course of civilization, as people aged us to repeat ancestral gestures.
In three decades the country has gone from extreme poverty to a wealth of average power. Great is temptation for younger generations to forget the technical craft who were their ancestors. But traditions are rooted in the collective soul of Omanis.

What Is The Cost Of A Kioskin A Mall

Returned!

Mounting is misleading! I went back alone with the children (a medal!) But I'm not passed directly through Paris ... Ontario. The cicadas sing, I rehabilitates gradually hear French. I wait quietly as the light is turned green for 3 seconds before honking, I enjoy a variety of meats (ah, a squeegee 27 June, we dreamed about), I loiter in the bookstores (well. .. to be honest, I'm just looking at the shelves of the library of the house that I 'I invaded), I am surprised to see so many dogs in the streets, I breathe the air so light, I'm sick when I heard the old lament of high temperatures (31 degrees in the shade, still !)
I take phone calls with loved ones, while during one year, or Skype or MSN does have enabled us to communicate normally (mild censure by the unique business communication .. ahem)
Dear readers, do not worry, I can still write a dozen articles, which I have the idea, photos, missing only the achievement ...
Patience, then!
Happy holidays to those who have a thought for my half, valiant worker trapped in paradise for a few more weeks, in his marble palace, empty of all furniture that travel by boat ... "murky" it seems!

Free Rail Buggy Plans

die of cold in Oman

Possibly. We tried to refresh ourselves, our youngest turned into ice.

We're adventurers, real ones, not even scared!
Let us put us in context. We were in March. In town, the temperatures began to rise, lunch outside had become untenable, and dinner under the starry sky was still bearable.
We had heard about the gathering of rosebuds in the Omani mountains, which can, after learned drying by evaporation, to produce a "mushy" but deemed disgusting. We were told in March.
Very tempted by this unusual tour of crops rose in terraces, we had started looking for accommodation.
One hotel, a very unpleasant phone receptionist, outrageous prices, probably playing on the rarity of housing to 2000 meters. And no way does that make room for the family. Yet it is a practice still very common here, the mattress may not be charged extra, and families themselves Many are welcome ... Except in the Jebel Akhdar.
Ok With another family, we decided to camp.
Logistics is actually more complex: tents, mattresses, sleeping bags, cots, cooking equipment, crockery, camping, and most importantly, food for two days.
We had planned everything, even warm clothes.
We did not know that donkeys were going to sing lullabies throughout the night. We also did not know that the wind was blowing on the plateau where we had pitched our tents, and the thermometer would plummet. At dawn ... a small degree. Nevermind the fact that our last had the good idea to overflow his bed, badly set, I melted the glue of my beloved hiking boots against the bonfire, the inflatable mattress of our friends was flattened during the night, and the children took turns to wake us up one after the other. At dawn, the plane was ORSEC fire, rekindle the flame, evacuation of the baby in the hands frozen in the 4x4 with heated thoroughly (once a year ... it was tested, it works!), Breakfast for muscular survivors, quick wash, and dismantling the camp. At 8 o'clock we were ready to go. Short walk
"quiet" between two villages clinging to the slope. But the view is breathtaking. lemon, pomegranate, roses, faladj, carved door and mina-smurf.
For roses, three weeks of patience would have been necessary. We have seen nothing but buttons. Wait late March or early April to climb the Jebel. Just look at the beautiful phots of our friends A and JL who have been there at the right time, lucky ... Here, this little montage shows that people take the same photos to the same place without consulting ... Sheep of Panurge: Going down in the valley, stop in the village Birkat Al Mawzer abandoned, which is a few hundred meters from the junction which can go up to Jebel Akhdar.

Moral: when it's hot in Muscat, to lose twenty degrees, take your 4x4, and goes to the Jebel Akhdar. In summer, watch out for scorpions, goats that eat the leftovers, and donkeys noisy, cold stunning.
But otherwise the place is charming.
